Pope Eagerly Awaiting Czech Trip

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 9, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI affirmed today his "joyful awaiting" of his next international apostolic visit, which will bring him to the Czech Republic at the end of the month.

The Pope mentioned his 13th foreign apostolic journey today at the end of the general audience, in greetings to a group from Krnov and Prague.

He thanked them for their prayers and assured them that he is "awaiting with joy my visit to your homeland."

The Sept. 26-28 trip is scheduled to include a visit to the capital city of Prague, as well as to Brno and Stara Boleslav, where the Holy Father will participate in celebrations commemorating the national patron, St. Wenceslaus.

The Czech Republic is about 27% Catholic.
