20130712_pope2uLog.jpg As you may know, World Youth Day WYD started with a meeting hosted by Pope John Paul II in 1984. It has been since its beginning an encounter of love, dreamed of by God and embraced by the youth as a moment where voices that need to be heard meet face to face with a heart ready to receive them.

Since then, young people from all over the world gather every 2 or 3 years in an international meeting of young people with the Pope, which lasts about a week. This encounter pursues two main purposes:  the first one is to make young people know the message of Christ, and the second one as an opportunity for the Church to see through the young people, in their needs and their realities, the young face of Christ walking among us.

Aware of this and the transcendence of this event for the life of the whole Church, on behalf of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications PCCS, invite you to be part of this dream of God – from any place in the world– and participate of the next encounter of the WYD that will be held from 23 to 28 July 2013 in the city of Rio de Janeiro and has as its motto "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Mt 28, 19).
