One of the keys
to happiness is picking the right dreams. The ones that can come true. And that is where most of us
fail. Why? Because we want a hiccup-free life.
Leave heaven
out of the picture for the moment, even if it is the most important dream and can definitely come
true. When you look at your other dreams, most of them involve perfection. The bad news is you'll
never achieve it. The good news is God doesn't expect you to.
Hiccups are part of life, as Houston weatherman David Paul found out last Monday.
An attack of the hiccups "ruined" his forecast. But that's precisely why he made it on YouTube. And didn't even cut such a bad figure. Funny, yes, but not bad.
God doesn't get bent out of shape
if you hiccup. If you make mistakes, mess up, or run into difficulties. Never being embarrassed
isn't one of the 10 Commandments. What God cares about is what you do with those hiccups:
1) Focus. Stay cool. If you're not the problem, just keep forecasting, helping others avoid life's storm clouds.
2) If you need help, get to that glass of water as soon as you can. Don't drag your problems around with you all day. Fix them. And if you don't have any water, ask for it.
Hiccups are part of holiness. They help us not to take our perfect selves too seriously, and remind us that if we want to see our dreams come true, we need God's help. He's always ready with that cup of water.
