Starting a new liturgical year Catholic Church lives Advent time.
It is a time of waiting and preparing for the celebration of Jesus birth on Christmas. This liturgical time make us remind and celebrate Jesus' historical birth of course, but it is also intended as a time to prepare for the next coming of Our Lord, no intentions to scare anyone. On the contrary it is a time for hope on a new life, a better and a happier one . Therefore the deepest meaning of this waiting and preparation time is about HOPE.
And to say the truth, how difficult can it be nowadays to have hope in a world where it seems everything is getting worse… poverty, sickness, betrayal, unemployment, economical and political unsteadiness, natural tragedies, disappointment, you name it… there are so many bad things going on that it gets harder to keep believing, trusting and hoping even in God’s promises and makes you wonder if God knows about all of this...
Yes, God knows, He always does, He is watching after us and stands right by your side, and mine… He knows… and because of it, He knows tha twe need this time to renew our faith and hope... life can be so hard from time to time and your soul may need to rest and nurture to recover strength to keep walking. And that is what Advent is intended for.
But… How to nurture your soul during this time? There are a lot of things that can help you. First of all, prepare your heart as a cradle for Baby Jesus… maybe some cleaning is needed, go to confession. For sure, your soul will be hungry, go to Mass as frequently as you can and receive communion as often as possible. You might also be longing to hear some words of love that may bring you peace and to give sense to everything in your life, talk to Jesus every time you can through your day and don’t forget to keep silence some times during your prayer so that Jesus can talk you back and that you are able to listen him. He has been waiting you for so long… will you go to his encounter this time?
We also want to help you to seize this time for faith and hope renewal by inviting you to visit the next links with suggestions for this Advent time. We hope they will be helpful for you so that your life transforms with the touch of Jesus' love.
