No Regrets?

Really acceptance is everything???

So yes, recently on 9 October 2012, Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head and neck in an assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen while returning home on a school bus.

And - also recently - I came across this piece of "wisdom" posted on Google+ by Alison Thurston "Accept everything about yourself I mean everything, you are you and that is the beginning and the end no apologies, no regrets."

My mind struggled to paste the two together; I pictured myself telling this to the Taliban gunmen ... but no, it didn't work.

The Gospel cannot support this kind of thinking, seemingly so rampant today. In fact, Jesus today warns his disciples agains the hypocrisy of the Pharisees ... why would he do that, if acceptance is everthing?

Rather, acceptance is a first step, but the Christian stance demands apologies and regrets for actions that are wrong, such as attempted murder.

... Such that we can then take the next step: to repent and receive forgiveness in view of eternity.
