Learning about the Thessalonians

After Paul and Silas left Philippi, they went to Thessalonica (Thessalonike, the modern Saloniki). Thessalonica was the capital of the Roman Province of Macedonia; The Thessalonians were free, their city was ruled by a popular assembly and magistrates. Saint Paul at first preached the Gospel to the Jews, his gentle and loving preaching touched the hearts of Thessalonians who converted to Christ.
