"Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." (Lk 14:27)
In this Sunday's Gospel, we hear Jesus' command to take up our own cross and follow Him. Often we may wonder how to do this and what it means to carry our cross. While the cross sometimes presents itself as enormous sufferings and painful experiences, more frequently it is present in the details of daily living. Carrying the cross can simply be things like biting our tongue when we want to say a harsh word or offering to help a family member when we just want to sit back and watch TV. Father Michael talks about some of these daily ways in which we can carry our cross alongside Christ.
