Synagogue and the Church (PART TWO OF TWO)

When did Christianity leave the protection of the Temple in Jerusalem? That was an important issue, prior to leaving the Church was protected from Roman persecution because it was considered a sect of Judaism.

The next issue was why did they leave at all? What were the issues discussed at the Jerusalem council? An issue of importance was that Jews who were converting to Catholicism were worried that through St. Paul’s work they would soon be outnumbered by Gentile converts. What would become of the Mosaic Law? St. Peter was the first to reach out to the Gentile population when he baptized everyone in Cornelius’ house. Let’s take a look at the growth and development of the early Church.
