Apostolic Succession

As you know the Catholic Church offers many blessings one of which is the proof that we are the Church that Jesus founded and He named St. Peter as the first Pope.

What does Apostolic Succession mean? What do the terms heretic, schism and hypocrite mean? The church is made up of teachings found in the entire Bible and it is important to remember that the Bible is a Catholic book, one that many other religions have copied to blend with their own theology but the original work is a Catholic work.

Where did the past and present Popes get their authority to lead the church? The Pope and each and every priest in the Catholic Church can trace their theological and ecclesial (church) roots back to the original 12 apostles.

Every church, every religion has a particular place, time and person who started it. When we turn to Scripture we see Jesus begin and appoint the first leader of His church in the Gospel of Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. 18 And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
