EDITOR’S
LETTER
John A. Hardon, S.J.
Requiéscat in Pace

by John O’Connell

Father John A. Hardon, S.J., the founder of this journal, died on December 30, 2000. Fr. Hardon spent his fifty-three years as a priest in laboring to build up the Kingdom of God—administering the sacraments, preaching, counseling, teaching, praying, and sacrificing.

Fr. Hardon will always be especially remembered for his commitment to teaching the TRUTH of the Catholic Faith. He spent his priestly life teaching the faith to Jesuit scholastics, religious, and the lay faithful.

We will sorely miss Fr. Hardon. Providentially, however, Father has left us a treasure trove of unpublished articles. So, please God, Father will continue to instruct us for years to come.

As Fr. Hardon would say, “it’s no coincidence” that this issue of The Catholic Faith is dedicated to the Divine Mercy, as well as to the memory of Father Hardon. Father, who died during the hour of Mercy, spent his years as a priest drawing souls to the Merciful Love of God.

Please remember Fr. Hardon in your prayers that through the intercession of the Merciful Mother of God he may enjoy eternal rest.

Réquiem aéternam dona ei, Dómine.
Et lux perpétua lúceat ei.
Requiéscat in pace.
Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
Amen.
